A very special occasion...

Baptism 800 x 400

If you have a new baby in your household, many congratulations! Whether it's your first or your third, this will be a very busy, exciting and tiring time for you! However, it is also a time when many parents want to thank God for their child's arrival, marking that occasion in a special way with family and friends.

We offer a Service of Thanksgiving for the arrival of a new child. A member of our leadership team can discuss thanksgiving and baptism and the difference between the two services.

All baptisms and thanksgivings are held during our normal 10:30am morning service.

The birth of a new life is among the most joyous occasions imaginable. Jesus taught that this joyous new birth can happen twice in our lives - once at our natural birth and once as a spiritual rebirth. If anything, this second birth is even more exciting than the first and, of course, a time of great celebration for the church family.

An adult will often want to mark their new birth by an act of adult baptism, possibly at a Baptism and Service by being baptised by total immersion!

There is no cost to be baptised in the Parish of Holy Trinity, but we do ask those seeking baptism to engage with appropriate resources that help to consider some of the central beliefs of the Christian faith.

Infant Baptism (sometimes referred to as a Christening), is also a practice we support. Baptising a child on the basis of their parent/s faith can provide a sure anchor as they look back in the years ahead, along what we hope will be an on-going journey of deepening faith and relationship with God.

At the Parish of Holy Trinity, we believe that baptism may well be a decision we make to show our desire to live for Christ, but ultimately baptism is all about what 'God has done' in Jesus Christ on our behalf.

Baptism symbolises in a physical way what happens spiritually in us, when we respond to God's call to be followers of Jesus. Whether baptised as a child or an adult, our baptism is only made effective through our personal faith in Jesus as Saviour and Lord.
