What we Believe

We believe in living out our Christian faith as effectively as possible, having an impact on those who have not yet heard or experienced the great news about Jesus Christ.
We believe we should share the good news about Jesus, equip people in their faith journey and see them live out their faith in the world (Matthew 28:19,20).
For this reason we are committed to our Mission (why we exist):
To Know Christ, to Grow in Christ and to Share Christ.
At our Parish Council meeting in February 2025, we considered the culmination of our reflections and prayers since October 2024, and endorsed the following shared biblical values we hope to see grow in our church community.
As we seek to love God and love people; to live for God and build community in the local communities we serve - The Parish of Holy Trinity will be committed to
1.
Biblical Teaching - Both One to One and One to Many (Know Christ) (2 Timothy 3: 16-17).
2. We are determined to make
Prayer a priority in everything – individually, in groups and as a church (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
3.
Serving our community, through radical
Hospitality (Matthew 22: 39-40, 1 John 4:7, 1 Peter 4: 10-11).
4. Encouraging the
Spiritual Growth of our members; through discipleship, training and equipping (Grow in Christ) (John 15:4-5, Ephesians 4: 5-16, Philippians 1:6, Colossians 2:6-7).
5. Encouraging the
Meeting Together of our church family, as we seek first the kingdom of God and His glory (Hebrews 10:25).
6.
Making Christ known (evangelise) in word, deed and sacrament; that others would hear the good news of Jesus (Share Christ) (1 Peter 3:15).
7. Practicing the grace of God in tangible ways; as we
Forgive one another and create an environment where reconciliation is our priority.
8. Calling all those who exercise
Leadership in our church (both clergy and laity) to do so in a
Godly manner, as they pastor Gods people and encourage one another (John 10:11, 1 Corinthians 3: 5-7).
9. Ensuring through proactive and biblically motivated
Stewardship, to care for the resources we have and promote radical generosity among members (2 Corinthians 8 & 9).
At this church, our
Mission and Vision are built on the
fundamentals of our Christian faith.
To that end, we believe in...
-
The one true God who lives eternally in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Article I).
-
The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world (Article I).
-
The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith and conduct (Article VI).
-
The dignity of all people, made male and female in God's image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement (Article IX).
-
The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin (Article II, XV).
-
The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God (Article XV).
-
The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world (Article IV).
-
The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ (Article XVIII).
-
The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness (Article XXVII).
-
The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers—given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit's gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
-
The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth (Article IV).
NB. Our beliefs are founded upon Holy Scripture, The Thirty-nine Articles of Religion and our historic Creeds (Nicene & Apostles).
